The ‘Serenade for Strings’ was composed in only two weeks and remains one of the composer’s more popular orchestral works to this day.

Enrique Granados (1867 – 1916) was one of the composers who defined a Spanish nationalistic sound and profoundly affected the style of other Iberian composers. His 12 ‘Danzas Españolas’ are relatively early works and were published in four books, each containing three dances

The third ‘danza’ is the ‘Rondalla Aragonese’ and became one of the most popular of all dances.

‘Allerseelen’ (‘All Souls’ Day’), is a song (‘Lied’) composed by Richard Strauss in 1885, setting a poem by the Austrian poet Hermann von Gilm

Originally scored for voice and piano, here you’ll find a version matching the same instrumentation of his Serenade Op.7 for chamber winds.
